গান্ধীর সাবরমতী আশ্রম চত্বর ঘিরে থাকা দুই শতাধিক দলিত পরিবারকে উচ্ছেদ করা হচ্ছে। গান্ধীর সাবরমতী আশ্রমকে নরেন্দ্র মোদির উদ্যোগে ‘বিশ্বমানের পর্যটন কেন্দ্র’ হিসেবে গড়ে তোলার জন্যই ওই আশ্রমের জমিতে বসবাসকারী হরিজনদের উচ্ছেদের প্রকল্প নিয়েছে কেন্দ্রীয় ভারত সরকার।
১৯১৭ সালে মোহনদাস করমচাঁদ গান্ধীর তৈরি ওই আশ্রমে পাঁচ প্রজন্ম ধরে বসবাসকারী হরিজন পরিবারগুলোকে অন্যত্র সরিয়ে দেওয়ার জন্য গুজরাট সরকারকে নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন খোদ কেন্দ্রীয় স্বরাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী অমিত শাহ।
অমিত শাহ জানিয়েছেন, প্রধানমন্ত্রীর ‘স্বপ্নের প্রকল্প’ গড়ে তোলার জন্য উন্নয়ন করা হবে ওই চত্বরের। এ নিয়ে অমিত শাহের সঙ্গে এক বৈঠকের পরে আশ্রম সফরে যান গুজরাটের মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বিজয় রূপাণীর মুখ্যসচিব কে কৈলাসনাথ।
রাজ্যের প্রস্তাব, ওই আশ্রমবাসীদের জন্য বিকল্প বাসস্থানের ব্যবস্থা করা হবে। তারা তাতে রাজি না হলে ৬০ লাখ টাকা করে ক্ষতিপূরণ দেওয়া হবে।
সাবরমতী আশ্রমের বিস্তৃত অংশে রয়েছে পাঁচটি বেসরকারি স্বেচ্ছাসেবী সংস্থার দপ্তর। গান্ধীর অনুপ্রেরণায় নানা গঠনমূলক কর্মসূচি চালায় এই সংস্থাগএলা।
ওই পাঁচ সংস্থার প্রতিনিধিদের নিয়ে গঠিত একটি উপদেষ্টা কমিটির মাথায় রয়েছেন বিজয় রূপাণী। যদিও সূত্রের খবর, মোদির ‘স্বপ্নের প্রকল্পের’ জন্য আশ্রমের দলিত পরিবারগুলিকে উচ্ছেদের পরিকল্পনার কথা সরকার ওই প্রতিনিধিদের জানায়নি।
আশ্রমের বাসিন্দাদের এরই মধ্যে চুক্তিপত্রে সই করার প্রস্তাব দেওয়া হয়েছে। যারা সই করেছেন, তাদের ২০ লাখ টাকা অগ্রিম দেওয়া হয়েছে। আশ্বাস, বাড়ি ছাড়ার পরে দেওয়া হবে বাকি ৪০ লাখ টাকা।
