Doha: Qatar Biobank, part of Qatar Foundation s Research, Development, and Innovation (QF-RDI) division, has announced the accomplishment of a lot of achievements by the end of 2020.
More than 26,000 participants, including over 20,000 Qataris, and 6,000 residents, who have been in Qatar for at least 15 years, have registered and donated the required samples to Qatar Biobank and among those Qatari participants, 17,000 have participated in Qatar Genome Program, which is generating whole genome sequencing and other omics data and integrating them with the comprehensive phenotypic data collected by the Qatar Biobank.
These participations have also been utilised in the Qchip project, that will be used in identifying patients and mutation carriers, by conducting genetic analysis in cooperation with Qatar Genome to facilitate the diagnostic process, especially for diseases tha ....
