Cocoa extract supplement found to have benefi

<p>Mass General Brigham researchers are reporting new evidence on the effectiveness of cocoa flavanol supplements for cognition. In a randomized controlled clinical trial of 573 people, the researchers found that older adults who had unhealthy diets and took daily cocoa extract supplements containing 500 mg/day of cocoa flavanols experienced cognitive benefits. Cognitive benefits however were not seen in participants who already had healthy dietary patterns. The results come from the Cocoa Supplement and Multivitamin Outcomes Study (COSMOS), and published online December 7<sup>th</sup> in <em>The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition</em>.</p>
