Dozens of eminent Afghans and experts on Afghanistan, in an open letter published on June 23, 2022, have called for the re-imposition of an international travel ban on the leaders of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban jihadi organization which seized power in 2021) for their continued harboring of Al-Qaeda and terror terrorist groups, war crimes, and abuse of women's rights.

Richard Peterson, Ph.D., professor in the Environmental Studies Program, is no stranger to Africa. He was born and grew up in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Now, he shares the wonders of his home continent by bringing his environmental students there. Peterson, assistant leaders Bethany Woodworth, Ph.D., associate teaching professor, Sandra Larned, coordinator of the Global Education Program, and 11 students recently returned from a three-week trip to Kenya.

WVU recently hosted a group of international high school counselors through the Collegey's Global Education Program. Coordinated by the Office of Admissions, the June 19 visit included a breakfast and presentation at Erickson Alumni Center, a campus tour and a visit to Coopers Rock State Forest.
