LST-325 traveled to Gulf Copper Shipyard in Port Arthur, Texas, under its own power earlier this year for an overhaul.
Following more than three decades in service, USS Texas decommissioned in 1948. For all these years, the warship has remained in the Houston Ship Channel - notably the same location where Texian troops surprised and defeated the Mexican army in 1836.
After being retired following the Second World War, USS Texas became the nation's first battleship to be turned into a floating museum and she was transferred to the Lone Star State.
As major repairs continue on the historic Battleship Texas, plans are being finalized for the ship’s permanent home.
The Battleship Texas, the last remaining battleship to be used in both World War I and World War II, previously was located at the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site in La Porte. It has been undergoing repairs in Galveston since August 2022.
