What is the empowered university . The notion is this, our universities should be look at universities and be honored with self. We talk about our leadership and our society that institutions that are healthy and secure should be willing to recognize whatever is going well, because knowledge of course, but also to be willing to say, but weve got a way to go. So its empowered to be honest with self and the subtitle which is shared leadership, culture change and academic success, starts with the notion that its not about the one person. I wanted to capture our earlier discussions about the meaning of freedom when we thought about free communities, free black folks in the north and south and how we came up with this way of representing freedom as freedom with a line through it, not quite freedom. Im the curator here at Washington Crossing historic park in pennsylvania. Today is a very exciting day. We are doing a reenactment of George Washingtons crossing of the Delaware River on christmas night 1776. What happened here is actually one of the most unexpected and daring military maneuvers of the American Revolution. And the story is washington and the Continental Army after having lost battled in new york and retreating across new jersey came into bucks county in the beginning of december 1776.
