A man accused of abducting his two children in Hampton and traveling across the country was sentenced to five years in a North Dakota prison, court records show.

Court documents said Timothy Truitt took the children, with the help of their mother Amelia Hamilton, and her father Michael Hamilton.

The group Black & Missing Foundation is advocating for change after a recent AMBER alert case was brought to their attention. The foundation's co-founder said the criteria are outdated and cumbersome.
