Experiencing racism: Randolph teens open up in virtual forum

The Patriot Ledger
Randolph youth discussed their experiences with systemic racism during a virtual forum, “Breaking the Silence on All Racism," hosted by Quincy Asian Resources Inc. Tuesday night.
Randolph town councilor Kenrick Clifton facilitated the discussion, encouraging the five invited teenagers from Randolph's middle and high schools to share their experiences with racism and their suggestions on how schools can promote inclusion and push for change.
Philip Chong, president of Quincy Asian Resources Inc., said they wanted to host the forum as the nation confronts anti-Asian hate and the "systematic and racial inequity" fought against by the Black Lives Matter movement.

CVS, Walgreens begin vaccine rollout for Missouri nursing homes

Some may have to wait a couple weeks to get underway.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — CVS and Walgreens are the two distributors for the COVID-19 vaccine for Missouri nursing homes. Long-term care facilities in the state are in various stages of deploying the vaccination shots with staff from one of those two pharmacy chains.
CVS officials said they have partnered with nearly 600 Missouri skilled nursing and assisted living facilities to administer the vaccine.
“When CVS partnered with the CDC to be able to do this initiative, the skilled nursing facilities had their choice — CVS or Walgreens — in order to administer," CVS District Leader Dr. Sarah Edington said. "Once they made that choice, CVS and the facilities started scheduling, with the release of the vaccine and the start date, based on the activation date. For Missouri that was Dec. 28.”

Did Mitch McConnell block relief bill for months because of a Kentucky nursing home mogul?

comments
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has for months stonewalled a new round of coronavirus emergency relief, specifically digging in on liability protections for businesses as a "red line" in negotiations with House Democrats and the Trump administration. But with a government shutdown looming at midnight on Friday, negotiations on a new bill have in recent days inched forward, with McConnell signaling he would yield on his key sticking point, apparently in part because he fears another failed attempt would damage the two Republican senators facing tight runoff elections in Georgia early next month.
Still, McConnell will almost certainly not abandon his crusade for corporate immunity, which for months has stood in the way of much-needed relief for tens of millions of Americans struggling under the health and economic burdens brought about by the woefully uncontained coronavirus pandemic.
