CSPAN2 Gender Race And Politics April 14, 2017
We had a woman at the top of the democratic ticket for the first time. We had a billionaire at the top of the republican ticket who had a discourse of strong populism. Also in this campaign we saw differences from campaigns in the near past in that sex and race entered into the discourse in new and different ways. Sexism and racism in particular were overtly discussed by candidates in ways that were perpetrated by candidates in ways we had not seen in previous campaigns.
