Today in 1974, Bob Dylan recorded two songs for his
Blood on the Tracks album at Studio 80 in Minneapolis: Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts and If You See Her, Say Hello .
Blood on the Tracks is Dylan s fifteenth studio album and marked his return to Columbia Records after a two-album stint with Asylum Records. Dylan started recording the album in New York City in September 1974, but in December, shortly before Columbia was due to release the record, Dylan abruptly re-recorded much of the material in a studio in Minneapolis. The final album contained five tracks from New York and five tracks from Minneapolis. ....

James McLeish Reid, aka Jim Reid, was born on this day in 1961, making him 59 today. He is the Scottish lead singer of The Jesus and Mary Chain, which he formed with his brother William Reid in 1983. The band released six studio albums, then broke up in 1999, then reunited in 2007 and released Damage and Joy in 2017.

Alex Chilton was born on this day in 1950, and in 1978 on December 27, Chris Bell was killed in a car crash at the age of 27. Both of these events are significant in the history of the band Big Star, who formed in 1971 and were only active for four years until their reunion 18 years later.
