Here's the correct way to reuse your disposable face masks safely

Putting your face mask in your pocket in between using it is actually not ideal. Photo: dpa
Surgical masks have become a common sight during the pandemic. Many people who use one to protect against the novel coronavirus stick it in their jacket pocket or hang it on their car’s rear-view mirror when they’re not wearing it.
While the masks are meant for single-use only, can they really be safely reused?
The answer is a qualified yes, but you shouldn’t stick them into your pocket.
For personal, everyday use, a surgical mask can be worn more than once under certain conditions, according to infectiologist Dr Peter Walger, spokesman for the board of directors of the German Society of Hospital Hygiene (DGKH).

Marinomed Biotech AG announces positive clinical data for Carragelose lozenges against respiratory viruses including SARS-CoV-2
Marinomed Biotech AG (VSE:MARI), a globally operating biopharmaceutical company, announced today positive results from its clinical study on the antiviral efficacy of Carragelose-containing lozenges (10 mg iota-carrageenan) in 31 healthy subjects. Results show that lozenges provide an additional formulation complementary to Carragelose-based nasal sprays. Both products are available in pharmacies through Marinomed's worldwide distributor network. The clinical study evaluated the inhibition of common human respiratory viruses, namely human Rhinoviruses (HRV) 1a and 8, Coronavirus OC43, Influenza A nH1N1 2009, and Coxsackie virus A10. Additionally, the efficacy against SARS-CoV-2 and human Parainfluenza Virus Type 3 was tested.

Fact check: Effective (and ineffective) COVID-19 treatments
A number of drugs have been mentioned as treatments for COVID-19. Some of them work well, some of them don't work at all, and some are still being tested.
A number of drugs have been touted as helping combat COVID-19, but very few have been confirmed as effective
Effective
Avigan
As researchers sought treatments early in the pandemic, the Japanese drug Avigan, with the active ingredient favipiravir, was promoted within Asia and then worldwide. Used for severe strains of influenza, the drug has been found to be a potent inhibitor of many RNA viruses. The drug can shorten the time to recovery for patients with COVID-19 — but the possible side effects are severe, including anaphylactic shock and pneumonia.

In Bavaria, FFP2 masks have been compulsory in public transport and retail since Monday.
Berlin - More and more people now wear FFP2 masks while shopping to protect themselves and others from Sars-CoV-2. With concern rising about the more contagious British variant of the coronavirus, politicians called for FFP2 masks to become compulsory nationally. Bavaria already requires FFP2 masks - in public transport and shops. Berlin hasn't gone as far: as of 24 January, a "medical" mask (including both surgical and FFP2) must be worn.
