Road crews with the Alabama Department of Transportation will perform roadway maintenance on Interstate 20/59 in Tuscaloosa County at night starting this weekend.
The northbound lanes of Interstate 20/59 near Arkadelphia Road are shut down as Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies and officials with the Alabama Law Enforcement respond to a deputy-involved shooting.

Get our free mobile app In a Wednesday press release, ALDOT announced the westbound lanes of McFarland Boulevard will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday, March 5 until 9 a.m. Saturday, March 6. The eastbound lanes will be closed from 11 p.m. Saturday, March 6 until 9 a.m. Sunday, March 7. The lane closures only impact the portion of McFarland Boulevard that runs directly underneath the 20/59 bridge at Exit 73.

This will cause major closures on McFarland Boulevard, impacting both directions of traffic. According to a press release from the Alabama Department of Transportation, the arch, which was a contracted project, did not meet certain construction specifications outlined by ALDOT. It is not dangerous to motorists in any way but in order to stay, it must be built under ALDOT s guidelines. A new arch is set to be built later this year.
