Singapore Airlines Ltd-owned Vistara announces merger with Air India

On Tuesday, Singapore Airlines Lt (SIA) announced its plans to invest $250 million into India's national carrier, Air India. The deal is as part of a merger of its Vistara full-service airline joint venture with Tata Sons. Following the deal, the airline will emerge as Air India's 25.1 per cent owner. Under the agreement, it stands to spend up to $615 million which as per reports will be stake, payable after the completion of the merger. The company said that it would fund the growth plans through its internal cash resources.

At least seven people, including a three-week-old infant and a pair of young siblings, were killed after a landslide in Italy's Ischia island, caused by heavy rains devastated a small town, said an official, on Sunday. Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has come out in defence of the outgoing Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa. The agency said that the allegations surrounding the army chief and his family members making the rounds on social media were "misleading". A recent report by Pakistani investigative news website FactFocus claimed that Gen Bajwa and his family amassed assets worth 5.66 billion US dollars (12.7 billion Pakistani rupees) over the past six years of his term. This includes assets and businesses both within and outside Pakistan.
