Coronavirus Vaccine: India A Step Closer To Covid Vaccine, Drug Regulator Approval Awaited: 10 Facts

India COVID Vaccine: India has logged over 1.3 crore cases of coronavirus so far.
New Delhi:
India has moved a step closer to getting a coronavirus vaccine as two candidates - Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech's Covaxin and the Serum Institute of India's Covishield - have been recommended by a government-appointed panel to the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for emergency use in the last two days. The country has been preparing for the vaccine rollout for the last four months, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said on Saturday as he reviewed the dry run in Delhi. An "end-to-end mock drill" on the vaccine administration was conducted in all the states and union territories on Saturday, an exercise compared by the Health Minister to holding elections. DCGI chief Dr Venugopal G Somani is expected to share details about the vaccine candidates today at 11 AM.
