The country has shed its colonial past with the new Naval ensign, says PM
PM Modi commissioned the first indigenous aircraft carrier-- INS Vikrant-- the largest ship ever built in India's maritime history. During the event, PM Modi also unveiled the new Naval Ensign (Nishaan), doing away with the colonial past. INS Vikrant will contribute in ensuring peace and stability.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today commissioned INS Vikrant, India's first home-built aircraft carrier, in a grand ceremony at Cochin Shipyard. The 45,000-tonne warship has been built at a cost of Rs 20,000 crore.
