PALO ALTO, CA .-Pace Gallery is presenting Together: Pacific Time, the debut show by New York-based sculptor Arlene Shechet in Palo Alto. Featuring more than a dozen brilliantly colored ceramic and steel sculptures created by the artist at her studio in the Hudson Valley during the recent period of quarantine, this exhibition demonstrates Shechet’s deep exploration of the power of color during a time of extraordinary upheaval. These sculptures show Shechet—who views color as a lifeforce—creating a livening pulse of highly saturated and tactile works: art as a source of renewed joy and inspiration. Together: Pacific Time comes on the heels of Together, Shechet’s solo show at Pace’s East Hampton gallery last August, and is on view from March

Northlandia: How the Twin Ports became the Twin Ports

Newspaper contest led to many ideas of what to name Duluth-Superior, but only one that stuck. Written By: Tony Dierckins, For the News Tribune | 10:49 am, Feb. 9, 2021 × This is Northlandia. We try to satisfy your curiosity about local history, trivia, culture and lore. We also cover practical questions about topics that affect your daily lives as Northland residents. This month’s Northlandia answers a question from Tim in Duluth s Lakeside neighborhood: “When and how did Duluth and Superior become known as the ‘Twin Ports?’” Answering the when is easy, and, it turns out, timely: Feb. 7, 1910, 111 years ago last Sunday. Answering the how is much more fun.
