City drew with Macarthur FC on Saturday, April 24. Brisbane Roar goalkeeper Jamie Young earned Save of Matchweek 17 honours for a quick-thinking stop to keep Western Sydney Wanderers defender Dylan McGowan off the scoresheet.
Brisbane won 2-1 at Bankwest Stadium in the first fixture of Matchweek 17, moving to within two points of the Wanderers in sixth place on the A-League table with three games in hand on Carl Robinson's side.
It was an important win in the context of Brisbane's season helped by the stunning glove-work of Young, who made the A-League Team of the Week for Matchweek 17 as well as claiming Save of the Week.
After taking a 2-1 lead, the Roar held onto that slender advantage to the full-time whistle. But in the 71st minute of play everything could have changed, if not for the quick reflexes of Brisbane's custodian.

The Reds had Louis D'Arrigo sent off just before halftime before Wanderers defender Mark Natta was expelled in the final quarter hour to ensure a thrilling finish.
Bernie Ibini squandered a glorious chance to snatch all three points for the visitors with almost the last kick of the game but blasted wide from five metres.
The Wanderers looked dangerous early and threatened the Reds' penalty area with former Adelaide players James Troisi and Bruce Kamau looking most likely.

The Nigerian Japanese Ado Onaiwu came in as a sub for the Japanese side to score the only goal in the 87th minute to help Yokohama F.Marinos beat Cerezo Osaka 1-0 in Japanese J.League.
The win meant Yokohama F. Marinos added three points after their previous 1-1 draw against Shonan Bellmare in their last match.
Cerezo Osaka, meanwhile, won their last game in the competition 1-0 at home to Sagan Tosu. With the result, the Yokohama side are fifth, while Cerezo Osaka are third after the end of the match.

Matchweek 12 of the 2020/21 A-League campaign comes to a close with Central Coast Mariners six points clear at the top of the table.
The Gosford side drew 2-2 with Perth Glory on Sunday afternoon. Wins to Western Sydney Wanders, Adelaide United and Melbourne City helped the three teams placed second to fourth marginally close the gap on the league-leaders.
Sydney FC beat Newcastle Jets 2-1 to move into fifth, whilst Macarthur FC fell from second to sixth after losing 3-0 to City.
Melbourne Victory, meanwhile, remain bottom of the table after a 3-1 Original Rivalry loss to the Reds. Grant Brebner's side remain on seven points, four points behind both Newcastle and Wellington Phoenix who lost to the Sky Blues and Wanderers respectively in Matchweek 12.

The Socceroos sharpshooter scored in each half at Bankwest Stadium to give him a tally of 15 goals in14 games against Western Sydney.
City dominated the game despite losing their head coach and a key player in the leadup.
With Patrick Kisnorbo coming down with suspected food poisoning, assistant Des Buckingham took charge.
"We spoke to him (Kisnorbo) before the game... the message didn't change, it just came from a different person," Buckingham said.
