Is New Jersey's Progressive Movement Dead or Dying?

By Bertin Lefkovic | April 25, 2021, 9:55 pm | in Edward Edwards When Lisa McCormick ran against United States Senator Robert Menendez in the 2018 Democratic primary election, her campaign’s alleged usage of bogus signatures was probably one of the worst kept secrets in progressive politics.  Anyone and everyone who followed the race knew that neither she nor her diminutive (I vaguely remember someone else referring to him in the past as Lilliputian and I refrained from using this adjective out of fear of being accused of plagiarism) campaign mana...

ANDREW PIERCE: Scandal-buster Keir Starmer... scourge of Labour MPs

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has taken the moral high ground over the Greensill lobbying scandal in heated exchanges in the Commons. When Boris Johnson hit back that Lord Mandelson, the former Labour trade secretary who is an adviser to Starmer, runs a lobbying company, Sir Keir said with a triumphant flourish: ‘I have not heard a defence that ridiculous since my last days in Crown Court. The state requires a minimum of 1,000 signatures to get on the gubernatorial b...

Democrats challenging Murphy are tossed from ballot

TRENTON — After a judge rejected her campaign petition, a would-be challenger to Gov. Phil Murphy is asking voters to write in her name on the ballot for the Democratic primary in June. Lisa McCormack failed to show up for her hearing this week or to give an explanation as to how the nearly 2,000 names submitted by her campaign appeared to be phony. Several people whose names were on the digital document testified they never signed it, while at least two were people who died, according to the attorney for the state Democratic Committee. He said the petition appeared to have been filled out...

Democrat for NJ governor accused of filing fake petitions

A Hunterdon County woman who has been building a record of unsuccessfully challenging Democratic politicians has been accused of generating fake signatures on an online candidate petition. Lisa McCormick, who has billed herself as a progressive Democrat, attempted to file her candidacy to run against Gov. Phil Murphy in the upcoming June primary with support from her campaign manager and partner, Jim Devine. Of the 1,951 would-be signatures submitted, roughly 85% of them have last names that start with either “A” or “B,” according to the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, which ch...
