Kenya Editors' Guild launched annual journalism lecture in memory of Philip Ochieng – Nairobi News

“Kenya Editors Guild will use this platform to promote excellence in media and journalism that Philip Ochieng stood for. I celebrate him for having the courage to be different because in the current world, that is what most people are afraid of. We should all celebrate Philip’s knowledge, service and commitment to journalism,” said Mr Otieno.
PO, as he was commonly known, died two weeks ago at a hospital in Migori at the age of 83 after practicing journalism for more than five decades.
Other speakers, majority of them drawn from different media houses in the country, highlighted the contributions of the veteran editor and long-serving Nation columnist to the media industry.

#GunsGalore: DCI Kinoti denies guns used in Citizen tv exposé belong to National Police Service – VIDEO

“The inaccurate and highly sensational report aired on CTV in the 7pm and 9pm news made no effort to reach out to the security sector for a reply. The report breached very high security protocols,” said Kinoti.
“RMS chose to entirely rely on the confessions of a criminal to air the report. None of the weapons belong to NPS officers. All our weapons are serialised in a particular manner, these ones do not belong to us,” he added.
Kinoti said it was criminal for the Citizen tv reporter to hold the weapons she used in her investigative piece for the entire period before surrendering them to the police service.

For a man whose name conjures up the image of a superhero, Raila Amolo Odinga (
pictured) has come to prove one thing; he is human.
Like an army commander who has led his men into numerous battles, the story of Kenya’s political journey can never be told without Raila.
Loved and loathed in equal measure, Raila has continued to surprise Kenyans after joining hands with his political archrival President Uhuru Kenyatta.
To his supporters, he is a shrewd and unshaken leader who will lead them to the Promised Land. To his critics, he is untrustworthy and hungry for power.

NTV anchor Mark Masai went off the news script to condemn politicians who were embroiled in gun drama, voter bribery, assault of IEBC officials and other election malpractices during by-elections which were conducted on Thursday, March 4.
Masai, on Friday, March 5, during a live news bulletin raised concerns about the political temperature in the country.
The anchor warned that Kenya may emerge the greatest loser if the 2022 General Elections will be similar to the mini polls, which were predicted to be a litmus taste for the main polls.
