Kenya launches guide to tackle violent extremism in schools - World News

NAIROBI, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Kenya on Tuesday launched a booklet to help learning institutions manage the rising trend of violent extremism in schools.
The guide launched by the National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC) says inducement and radicalization are methods that are allowing recruiters to interfere with curriculum delivery, lower access to education and undermine teacher authority in instilling discipline.
NCTC acting director Joseph Opondo, who launched the booklet to guide in basic education institutions in Nairobi, said that all stakeholders must work together in order to ensure the children are protected.

Patients seeking diagnosis at public health facilities in Homa Bay County have a sigh of relief after medical laboratory officers ended their strike.
Through the Kenya Union of Medical Laboratory Officers (KUMLO), the medics called off the strike which started on January 6 after signing a return to work agreement with the County Secretary (CS) Isaiah Ogwe who was accompanied by the Health chief officer Gerald Akeche.
The officers downed their tools over a number of grievances including failure by the county to recognise their union, lack of promotion and lack of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs).
