IT would be easy for Grace Tame to view her recognition as Australian of the Year as vindication of her struggle to right a wrong, but that’s not how she sees it.
Grace, a sexual assault survivor who was silenced by an archaic gag law that prevented her speaking out against her abuser, is now a persuasive advocate for destigmatising victims’ experience of sexual assault.
“This isn’t an award that celebrates me,” Grace told “CityNews”.
“By normalising the act of speaking out we are freeing victims from shame and dismantling victim blaming attitudes.

Kozhikode, Feb 14 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday announced the functional launch of 'The Gender Park' campus in Kozhikode.
The CM noted that the Rs 200-crore endeavour will enable women and transgender individuals to become entrepreneurs.
“The Gender Park sets a model for not just the country, but the whole world,” the Chief Minister said, after declaring open a Gender Museum, Gender Library, Convention Centre and an amphitheatre that form the first phase of the pioneering project aimed at boosting gender equality in the subcontinent.

Kerala CM to launch Gender Park Campus on Feb 14, will lay foundation stone for IWTRC
Kozhikode, Feb 11 (UNI) India will get its pioneering Gender Park Campus this Sunday when Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will launch its government initiative at Kozhikode that aims to contribute to the gender discourse in South Asia in association with the UN Women.
At the ceremony in suburban Silver Hills in the city, Mr Vijayan will formally dedicate a Gender Museum, Gender Library, Convention Centre and an Amphitheatre as facilities to boost gender equality in the region through research, policy advice and uniquely conceptualized interventions, a release said here on Thursday.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the newly completed projects, including a gender museum, library, mega convention centre and amphitheatre, at the State government’s Gender Park in Kozhikode on February 14. According to Social Justice Department officials, it will also mark the inauguration of the first phase of all completed development works at the park.
One of the major projects on the cards is the International Women’s Trade and Research Centre (IWTRC). Mr. Vijayan will lay the foundation stone for the project during the inaugural ceremony. The IWTRC envisages a secure and sustained ecosystem for women entrepreneurs and a space for them to market their products.
