India expresses deep concern and strong protest to Canada over pro-Khalistan slogans raised at a Toronto event attended by PM Justin Trudeau. MEA states that such events continue unchecked in Canada, highlighting the political space given to separatism, extremism, and violence. This has negatively impacted relations and encouraged a climate of violence, affecting Canadian citizens.
"This illustrates once again the political space that has been given in Canada to separatism, extremism and violence," a statement released by the MEA said.
Based on the pictures shared by Delhi Police pro-Khalistani slogans have been inscribed on the walls of 4 Delhi Metro stations ahead of the G20 Summit.
On Wednesday the Indian consulate in Brisbane Australia was forced to close down due to safety concerns following an unauthorized gathering by Khalistani supporters.
The Indian High Commission in Canada condemned the incident and has raised the issue with the Canadian authorities to investigate and take prompt action against the perpetrators.
