Connecticut s public and private colleges and universities are partnering to provide virtual information sessions and individual appointments to help guide students and their families through application and financial aid forms.

The University of Connecticut (UConn), Connecticut State Colleges & Universities (CSCU), the Connecticut Conference of Independent Colleges (CCIC), New Haven Promise, the Connecticut Association of Professional Financial Aid Administrators (CAPFAA), College Board and the Connecticut State Department of Education announced the initiative today, recognizing that current pandemic-related circumstances might make the process more complicated for families than in regular years.

Thomas Gallagher, 61, is charged with four federal crimes: entering and remaining in a restricted building; disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building; violent enter and disorderly conduct in the Capitol building; and parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building.
Gallagher is currently barred from entering Washington D.C. and appeared in the court via video from New Hampshire. The court provided a public audio feed of the hearing.

Gallagher was arrested last week by FBI agents in New Hampshire on federal charges after he had been initially arrested on Jan. 6 by Capitol Hill police. Gallagher was detained along with five other people for refusing to leave the Capitol building when ordered out by police, according to the affidavit filed by Capitol Hill Police Officer Joseph Bruno. ....

VIRGINIA One $2 million ticket was sold in Virginia on Friday while the $1 billion Mega Millions jackpot was won by a player in Michigan.
Friday night s Mega Millions drawing again produced millions of winning tickets, including a single lucky jackpot ticket purchased at a Kroger store in the Detroit suburb of Novi. That was the only ticket to match all six numbers drawn on Jan. 22 – the white balls 4, 26, 42, 50 and 60, plus the gold Mega Ball 24.
In Friday night s drawing alone, more than 214,000 Mega Millions tickets bought in Virginia won prizes. That includes one ticket that won $2 million, one ticket that won $20,000, and six tickets that each won $10,000. ....
