reporter: this is a neighborhood as you can imagine a bit on edge tonight. many of these folks felt that explosion and saw the fire, and the destruction in its path. down there a bit ahead of here where you see all the fire trucks, at lees corner and pen borough is where it happened. we re told that a neighbor smelled some natural gas, the odor of natural gas, called 911. fire trucks were on their way when the explosion happened. now, the explosion ripped this house apart, destroyed the house. it is just a pile of rubble here. so the family inside we re told the family that lives there were not inside at the time, they were not a home. that was a good thing. the explosion was so powerful it damaged homes on either side. those homes sustained damage and those families are evacuated tonight. washington gas is here with firefighters. they are managed to turn off the gas to the house itself but they are afraid that there is still the odor of natural gas in that area a ....
