WOOD RIVER — Nearly 140,000 COVID-19 vaccinations now have been administered in Madison County, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
The IDPH on Monday reported a total of 138,848 COVID-19 vaccinations so far have been administered in Madison County.
That included 79,954 first doses and 58,894 — or 22.27% of the county’s population — now fully vaccinated.
The Madison County Health Department has said the actual numbers for both vaccination categories are higher than the IDPH figures.
The county this week is expanding COVID-19 vaccinations opportunities. In addition to its vaccination clinic at the Gateway Convention Center in Collinsville, the health department is planning vaccinations:

GODFREY — Thanks to the success of its COVID-19 safety precautions, the Lewis and Clark Community College Music Department hasn’t missed a beat while holding in-person classes.
“We have all computers surrounded with plexiglass, and we reduced our lab from 12 computers down to eight to space students out,” said L&C Music Department Coordinator and Professor Louis Michael. “Additionally, we’ve installed plexiglass dividers on our stage. Our performers are separated at all times. We’ve been really successful at being cautious.”

GODFREY — Lewis & Clark Community College President Ken Trzaska provided the board with a budget update Tuesday night.
On the revenue side, the school is projecting a loss in tuition and fees compared to the budget, he said. Trzaska said the loss is lower compared to last month, picking up more than $1.75 million in tuition fees in November.
“We’re down, but I’m hopeful that we are trending in the right direction,” Trzaska said.
The total fiscal year projected expenses dropped by “several hundred thousand dollars,” he said. Salaries and benefit expenses remain unchanged.
