>> yes. she said this, let's give her some credit. she said this at a woman of the world conference. of course, she was asked the question by john stewart which tells you a lot about his career right now, but it doesn't bode well for leading a series that has a lot of male fans it in and what does it say about an artist who separates people by group? i think we're tired of the group categorization. >> trace: it sounds like this star wars will be woke. i can tell you that. 63-3 because of opt outs and transfers, espn says the seminoles played without their top two quarterbacks. top ruin thing backs. top two receivers, starting tight end, three starting defensive linemen. two of three defensive starting linebackers and three starting defensive backs. they were down 29 scholarship players in all. what's the solution for this? >> well, there aren't any easy

difficult if other people are on the roadway clogging up those areas. and it hinders the ability of people like linemen to come in and begin to restore power. >> and i know it is a very busy morning and also to some degree a nerve-racking morning. we appreciate your time. and i would say if there are messages that you need to get out, if you feel like things need to be paid attention to, let us know and we'll absolutely talk to you whenever you think that it is a necessity. we appreciate your time, sir. >> will do. thank you. now i want to toss it back over to derek who is keeping up updated on the macro picture and also on the grounds th there in tampa. we've seen the effects 130 miles away from the direct path. derek, what are you seeing right now? >> reporter: yeah, that's right. even though we're well away from the most powerful part of major hurricane idalia, we have seen the storm surge push into the tampa bay, flood bay shore drive

is where there's a lot of linemen trucks. this one right here is actually from virginia. i was speaking from a crew from ohio. they're all ready to stand by. about 1,000 people not very far away from us are ready as soon as they are called to assist. i was actually at an equestrian center, the world equestrian center speaking to people who were evacuating from leavy county which we know is going to be very dangerous once the storm surge does hit that area, they've evacuated to the equestrian center because they have horses and animals. they want to make sure they can, of course, be close to them, so a lot of people in that area hopefully are taking the message seriously. they're moving in. these hotels completely booked in ocala. me and my photographer were lucky to get the hotel that we got, but they were telling us they're getting a lot of people from the coast line coming in, which is a good sign. of course, we want people to get to higher ground and get to a safer area. so, of course, as the storm continues to go on, we'll monitor it from out here, but this is probably the most rain we've seen so far at least as of right now. back to you guys.

that's what they wanted to do. and so once this passes there will be rescue efforts done, and done if need be, and hopefully it's not necessarily, hopefully they knew what they were doing and they have a spot. but it's potentially very, very hazardous when you're talking about really anything even approaching ten feet. when you start talking about potentially 16 feet that is a huge, huge deal. >> yesterday the expectation was that there would be 40,000 electrical linemen in state to respond to the restoration effort. did we -- >> we said up to. we said probably between 30 and 40, that's where we're at? >> we're between 30 and 40. we haven't talked to the crews this morning. they're in the field doing what they're doing. not worried so much about the numbers right now as we are about getting the power restored. >> do you think that florida caught a break here in the fact that we're -- this is in the big bend and not areas like the tampa bay area? >> well, it's not a break for the people in the pathway.

there is going to be people working to remedy that and we have a lot of people staged. but that is very hazardous in the immediate aftermath of the storm. we currently have 54,000 households that are out of power throughout the state of florida. but there have been over 100,000 households that have already been restored through hard work all through the night. and those restoration efforts are ongoing any place that's safe to do people are there. working to get that done. we have 8 urban search and rescue teams staged, ready to go. 33 ambulance strike teams. 5500 national guardsmen. we also have the coast guard on standby should that be mess. there will be an immediate effort to restore power to people who lose power. there's 30,000-plus linemen stationed and ready to go to commence restoration efforts.

about 30,000 to 40,000 linemen in florida to begin to assist in the power restoration efforts. people that are still in the storm's path, however, as you heard, they should not venture out into the storm and remain sheltering in place if your local officials are telling you to do so. however, if you are in trouble, and you need immediate assistance, please call 911. as you do go out, do not wade in the water. do not drive through flooded roads and streets. just remember, turn around. don't drown. unfortunately, we see so many fatalities after the storm passes. we want to make sure that everybody is taking the right precautions to keep themselves safe. and as always, please continue to listen to your local officials as this storm continues to pass oaf georgia currently and into south carolina. please check on your friends and your family and your loved ones,

>> that does seem consistent, but it seems to me that maybe they're coming back on fairly quickly. i'm hearing from a lot of people that their power is being restored. i'm in the far east part of the county, and i was fortunate that i never lost power at all, even through the worst of it. i do think that our linemen are doing a great job getting this back online quickly. >> ralph thomas, good luck to you all. i know you have some long days and maybe weeks ahead of you. i'm glad it wasn't worse. thank you so much for taking the time to talk to us. our breaking news coverage continues in a moment. first we want to show you this video from cedar key, florida, where a bed and breakfast cottage simply collapsed and washed away during a storm surge that surpassed six feet, and that was during low tide. we're back in 60 seconds. we're back in 60 seconds my frequent heartburn had me taking antacid after antacid all day long but with prilosec otc just one pill a day

evacuate and heed warnings. are people listening? >> yeah, the vast majority of people did what they needed to do and evacuated the coastal low lying areas that would be exposed to the storm surge. as people start to begin to want to get back to their homes we're encouraging people to stay put for the time being. a lot of action has happened post storm. what you see is people being exposed to dangerous situations like downed power lines, downed trees, so we're just urging people to proceed with caution. as soon as it's safe for our emergency responders, our urban search and rescue teams and linemen to continue working, they will be doing that and doing it as quickly as possible. >> julie: an early morning news conference from the governor. we expect him to speak later today. he said to residents don't mess with the storm. it will be a significant impact. how significant of an impact was this? was it more or less than what
