Richmond, 47, was long seen as a favorite for a top job under Biden. He was a prominent early backer of Biden s presidential bid, signing on as a national co-chair of the campaign in May 2019, and he barnstormed the country to promote Biden even when the former vice president s chances appeared to be slipping away early in the Democratic primaries. Richmond now co-chairs Biden s transition team.
