The San Antonio Police Department reported two homicides on the Southwest side Friday night.
The first occurred at 9:50 p.m. along the 800 block of W. Baetz Boulevard. A man walked into a home and shot the victim, an unidentified man in his 30s or 40s, officials said.
The killer then fled east along Baetz Boulevard on foot, officials said.
An officer spotted a man with a gun several blocks away; there was evidence he was involved in the shooting, police said.
Raymond Hernandez, 28, was taken into custody and charged with first degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm.

Tito Bradshaw’s grandmother taught him how to ride a bike when he was 2 years old, living with his family at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii.
He grew up to be an avid biker in Copperas Cove and later San Antonio, where he often rode an antique penny-farthing bike in parades. He became a co-owner of the Bottom Bracket Social Club on Colorado Street, which was both a bike shop and a bar until it closed its doors.

Under the Interstate 37 overpass on the north side of downtown, Leslie Hester dug through her tent for a washcloth and bottle of water.
Still huddled in her sleeping bag, she poured frigid water onto the cloth to wipe her face. Outside, the air was thick with smoke from a campfire a friend had built with scrap wood. Tears from the smoke pooled in their eyes.

The milk house and dairy barn of the historic Bacon-Steubing farm property were denied historic designation last week by City Council.Billy Calzada /Billy Calzada
A barn built in the 1950s — believed to be one of the last remaining structures of San Antonio’s dairy farming heritage — has been denied historic landmark designation.
The 12.5-acre property in the 6400 block of De Zavala Road included three single-story structures built in 1950 that originally served as a barn, a milk house and a feed room for the former Bacon-Steubing dairy farm.
The Historic and Design Review Commission recommended granting the property historic status, but City Council members decided otherwise last week.
