[together] i m not that innocent - oops, i did it again - britney was the madonna, whereas christina was like the mariah. - i m a genie in a bottle - whoa-oh, yeah - christina, you know, very tiny girl she s under five feet, and when she opened her mouth, it was like this burst of, like, wind came through your hair. you were like, that voice is coming out of that girl? [cheers and applause] - come on, come on come on [cheers and applause] - the end of the 90s is a really precarious, strange time for music, because mtv stops playing music videos. they start doing this more, kind of reality television programming, which, everyone s like, that s never gonna take off. [laughs]
love & hip hop was held to a different standard in terms of what the expectations were for the show. luckily love & hip hop blew those expectations out of the water, and it made the path, i hope, a lot easier. not just for myself, but for other women who were coming in behind me to do what i was doing. (upbeat music) - when i initially pitched married to medicine to bravo, they said, we already have a black ensemble cast show. and i said, but you don t have this one. - what i love about married to medicine is that you have a show about black professionals. you are showing black people being on this level that we don t normally get to see. - yes, babe, honey, she s here. - mariah s in the house. - i love the fact that she created the concept of this show and really set up a platform for other people to shine.
