Welcome to the seventh Songs of the Week of 2024. This week Andy Von Pip, Caleb Campbell, Mark Moody, Scott Dransfield, and Stephen Humphries all helped me decide what should make the list. We settled on a Top 8 this week, narrowed down from the 20 songs we seriously considered.
We are checking in with musicians during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic to see how they are dealing with everything. Here we check in with Jonas Bjerre of Denmark’s Mew.
Welcome to the sixth Songs of the Week of 2024. It was a stacked week for new tracks. Vampire Weekend released two songs and they both made the list (and might’ve charted even higher if they had just put out one song and not split the vote). Even most of the honorable mentions are great this week and would’ve made the main list on other weeks.
British post-punk band Yard Act are releasing a new album, "Where’s My Utopia?," on March 1 via Republic. Last night they were the musical guests on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where they performed recent single “We Make Hits.” They have also announced some new fall North American tour dates.
