OPINION: One of my ancestors has died.
I read the obituary on a new signpost at one of the entrances to a Hawke's Bay tourist trail.
The tupuna was Rongokako, and he was the first-born of our family line in Aotearoa some 18 generations ago.

The Dadcam Diaries: Bored with lockdown I put together some bits I captured on the Dadcam over the summer. 15 minutes of shoddy camera work and shameful editing - but there's good people riding bicycles, so it's worth watching for that.

A Hawke's Bay paraglider aiming to compete in this year's World Championships in France in May has dubbed Te Mata Peak as one of the best places to fly off.
Aaron Chesterman said the peak
was a top paragliding spot. He has done about 90 flights off the summit.
"The distance record from Te Mata Peak is 125km, so you can travel a long way with no engine - which is amazing."

Jason Kelly, a keen
cyclist, completed the "Everesting" challenge in less than 13 hours.
The concept of Everesting is simple - pick any hill, anywhere in the world, and repeatedly climb it until you reach 8848m.

Kelly first heard about Everesting four years ago, when he completed 10 virtual climbs of Alpe du Zwift (over 10,000m) in training for the "One Day Ahead Tour de France" – one of many endurance cycling challenges undertaken by the Havelock North resident.
But without the worries of road and weather conditions, Kelly said the challenge "felt like cheating" and "the itch remained unscratched".
