Appointments available for large vaccine clinic at North Penn High School


LANSDALE — Roughly 3,400 appointment slots are still available for a COVID-19 vaccination clinic happening this weekend at North Penn High School in Lansdale.
“We are at a tipping point in our county where more than half of our residents have received at least one dose of vaccine,” Skippack Pharmacy owner Dr. Mayank Amin told MediaNews Group. “To reach herd immunity, it’s going to take more than half to get there.”
The Schwenksville-based pharmacy is once again hosting the large scale clinic from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the high school, located at 1340 S. Valley Forge Road, according to volunteer Allie Galoozis.

Penn vaccine requirement
The University of Pennsylvania is joining the list of colleges and universities requiring that students be vaccinated against COVID-19 when they return this fall.
Penn officials said in a press release Thursday that the widespread distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine reinforces the university’s expectation to return to in-person learning and research for the new school year.
Students will be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination, with exceptions being granted for medical or religious reasons.
Flu vaccines will also be mandatory for students beginning later in the fall.

LANSDALE, Pa. - A Montgomery County pharmacy gave the local vaccine push a 'shot in the arm' on Sunday by hosting a large vaccination clinic at North Penn High School with the goal of administering thousands of shots.
The Skipback Pharmacy, owned and operated by Dr. Mayank Amin, hosted the clinic with support from over 700 volunteers. Lines of people ages 16 and older had the opportunity to get the Pfizer or Moderna shot and some peace of mind from the highly effective vaccines.

(NEW YORK) — It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a pharmacist in a Superman suit on a mission to vaccinate his community.
Dr. Mayank Amin, 36, is the owner of Skippack Pharmacy in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. Over the past year through the pandemic, his efforts to keep his community safe have been nothing short of superhuman.
The CVS pharmacy in Amin’s community had shut down while he had taken a break from being a pharmacist to change careers — becoming an event planner. When he saw the concern among elderly neighbors about getting their medications after the local pharmacy closed, he decided to step in and build his own in the same space.
