The Best Australian-style Coffee Shops in Hong Kong

The Best Australian-style Coffee Shops in Hong Kong

Here’s our roundup of the very best Australian-style coffee shops in Hong Kong. Flat white, anyone?
We love coffee – and this city has no shortage of a great cup. Cafés in Hong Kong are never-ending, so to help you narrow it down a little – we’re paying a visit down under, where the coffee is something of a nationwide obsession.
Little Cove Espresso
We love this Melbourne-style coffee shop – with its clean, minimal decor and delicious, healthy and Mediterranean inspired dishes. Located in Sai Kung, it’s well worth making a trip – Little Cove Espresso is a contender for one of the best brunch spots in Hong Kong. Go for a cold brew: it’s steeped in cold water for 24 hours before being filtered and served on ice.

Naked Ice Cream – NEW Ice Cream Cafe With Rock Melon Flavour At Kovan, Opens Till 2AM Everyday – DanielFoodDiary.com

Nothing very out of the ordinary.
So I went for the more interesting sounding Yubari Rock Melon with a delightful fruity sweetness, though I wished it was either creamier or more
‘sorbet-y’ while this was somewhere in middle.
The Pistachio ice cream could have been less sweet (maybe 20% at least) for the natural nuttiness to be more pronounced – this is what people like about Pistachio ice cream I would assume.
Similarly, the Hojicha ice cream could do with less sweetness, to better bring out the roasted tea flavour. Also this was not entirely smooth-creamy, as there were some ice bits I tasted in between.

It’s hard to pinpoint one particular factor to the perfect stuffed doughnut.
Is it the way your teeth sinks into the sugar-coated pillows? Or is it the smooth, velvety cream that threatens to ooze out as soon as you grab hold of one? Perhaps it’s the addictive rush you get from the fried spheres you can’t get enough of.
We believe our weakness is a combination of all three. If you’ve fallen in love with stuffed doughnuts just as we have, then you’ve found the right place. Here’s a list of where to get the best ones in Singapore.

However, not everything can be purchased for takeaway — coke floats, for example.
Milo and cola hack
If you only happen to have a bottle of Coca-Cola and Milo powder, and no vanilla ice cream, you can make something reminiscent of a coke float.
This recipe went viral among Malaysians on Facebook, calling it a hack to make a root beer-tasting drink.
However, some sleuthing on the internet revealed that it was already a trend among people in the Philippines last year.
It is apparently a hack to make coke float using just the two unlikely ingredients.

Where to get authentic and delicious gelato in Singapore

We would be hard-pressed to find anyone who doesn’t love ice cream . Not only is it a decadent treat, ice cream can also be found in a myriad of flavours that spans the limitations of human imagination. It’s also a great way to cool down and recharge with some sugar in Singapore’s heat.
But have you heard of gelato? Gelato is Italy’s answer to ice cream. Gelato is usually made with less fat and has less air whipped into it than ice cream, making it a healthier (in moderation, of course) alternative that doesn’t lose in terms of having a decadent mouthfeel.

Hẻm Gems: Nasi Lemak and Teh Tarik to Evoke Memories of Hawker Centers

As I gaze at the glorious eight-dish Malaysian banquet on our table at Makiucha, perfectly spaced by our photographer, popping with colors and wafting off aromas of rich spices, it becomes apparent to me how much I’ve missed hawker centers.
The immersive, sensory experience of squatting on a pavement while waiting to wolf down a bodacious
bún or bag of
bánh tráng trộn is something that I wouldn’t change for the world, but at times I daydream of the food paradises within hawker centers where I could eat as diverse and far-reaching a diet as my heart desires. In Vietnam, an iteration of the concept exists in the form of food courts, though these are more often than not sheltered inside sterile and uninspired shopping malls. It’s usually where you grab a quick bite after a movie or shopping spree and where, instead of heartily prepared comfort food, the likes of Lotteria or McDonald’s languish. Hawker centers, a staple in Singapore and Malaysia, are much more affordable, communal and harbor some of the best food that the countries have to offer.

There's a new late-night ice cream cafe in town — here are 8 others that will also hit a sweet spot

4. Haute & Cauld
Bedok Reservoir may not have a good reputation, but that shouldn't stop you from satisfying your cravings at Haute & Cauld, which is located in the area.
The cafe's name is a play on the term 'hot & cold' and hints at the menu's range of both hot and cold food offerings.
Ice cream flavours that you can sample include Pistachio, Brownies & Cream and Yubari Rock Melon.

You can also pair your ice cream with one of their three waffle flavours - red velvet, charcoal and buttermilk - and opt to top up to get a set meal that includes a soft drink.
