Twelfth grader Jessica Wan won the 15th Math Prize for Girls (MP4G) annual contest for female-identifying students, hosted by the MIT Department of Mathematics, for the third time.
MIT won the 83rd William Putnam Mathematical Competition, sweeping the top five spots for third consecutive year. MIT also took home the Elizabeth Lowell Putnam Prize for the top-scoring woman.
MIT PRIMES has launched “Yulia’s Dream,” a free math enrichment and research program for Ukrainian high school students and refugees. The program honors Yulia Zdanovska, a 21-year-old Ukrainian mathematician killed by a Russian-fired missile.
MIT senior David Darrow loves to use math as a way to explore the world around him. His other passions are language he has studied German, Russian, French, and Spanish at the Institute and mentoring young mathematicians.
