The 10th of December 2020 is now a memorable day for many Moroccans and Israelis alike. On that day, then-President of the United States of America, Donald Trump made an important announcement. He declared on his official Twitter account that both America’s strategic allies, Morocco and Israel, will establish full diplomatic relations. For Moroccans, this resumption of official contacts between Morocco and Israel also came with the US recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over its Sahara. ....

In an eastern Mediterranean region full of rivalries, muscle-flexing and shifting alliances, Israel made strides recently in achieving energy security and cementing ties with partners to create a physical link with Europe.
Israel has been using energy diplomacy to help create a bloc to counter Turkish policies in the region, and last week signed deals to tighten a partnership with other countries similarly seeking to curb Ankara, while also navigating other regional rivalries that could pull apart the fledgling forum. ....

Years of Jordanian frustration with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu boiled over this week, as officials in Amman appeared to accuse him of endangering the region for political reasons and alleged that Israel had violated agreements with them.
At a press conference Thursday, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi assailed “those who are toying with the region and its peoples’ right to live in peace for the sake of electoral and populist concerns… destroying the trust which is the basis for ending the conflict.” ....

Is Israel ready to normalise relations with Turkey?

Last Updated On: Jan 14 2021 11:03 Gmt+3
Turkey has made it clear that it is interested in mending its relationship with Israel, but that sentiment might not be shared in Tel Aviv.

This was, in some ways, the closest glimpse into whether or not Israel would take Erdoğan up on fixing what was once a close partnership. However, an assessment on its own does not provide a clear enough signal that Israel is ready to take further steps on the normalisation tract. ....
