Mayor Plante asks Quebec to designate Chinatown as heritage district

Mayor Valérie Plante is calling on the Quebec government to designate Chinatown as a heritage site, like Old Montreal.
In a letter Thursday to Culture and Communications minister Nathalie Roy, the mayor notes that the historic district is facing pressure from real-estate development, raising worries about the loss of its architectural heritage.
