laughs oh, that's going on the poster! it's kind of... 0k, shall we rip off gravity — do a bit of gravity, then we'll do a bit of lars von trier*s melancholia, then we'll do a bit of event horizon, and then a bit of 2001, but the clear sort of inspiration behind this is sharknado 2. this is like if somebody gave the makers of sharknado 2 $160 million and said, "go knock yourself out." it's a film which as you watch, it's notjust that it defies the laws of gravity, it defies the laws of drama and everything else. which somebody said, "alexa, write me a terrible movie script, all that has to happen is it has to have *moonfall* in it — the moon has to fall." i actually...| could feel my iq reducing. my iq's not very big at the beginning. by the end of it...it was... i mean, i actually really enjoyed it because it was like, 0k, this has gone so far beyond stupid, it's like intergalactically dumb, and the best thing about it is it's gotjokes in it, so there are bits that are meant to be funny and then

hello and a very warm welcome to the film review on bbc news. i'mjane hill and mark kermode is with me, as ever. hello again, mark. and what have you been watching? well, this week we have the eyes of tammy faye withjessica chastain. you've just seen it. i'm dying to know what you think of it. jackass forever — 20 years on, they're still doing it. and moonfall in which the moon err falls. laughs. well, that's the review. thank you forjoining us. laughs. so, the eyes of tammy faye. ok, so this is the story of televangelists jim and tammy faye baker. if you're in america, you'd know who they are, but over here, maybe not. they're played byjessica chastain and andrew garfield. the film follows their rise to sort of money—spinning televangelism, preaching the prosperity doctrine, which is that god wants you to be successful. god wants his followers to be rich.

of inspiration behind this is sharknado 2. this is like if somebody gave the makers of sharknado 2 $160 million and said, "go knock yourself out." it's a film which as you watch, it's notjust that it defies the laws of gravity, it defies the laws of drama and everything else. the script appears to have been written by alexa, which somebody said, "alexa, write me a terrible movie script, all that has to happen is it has to have *moonfall* in it — the moon has to fall." i actually...| could feel my iq reducing. my iq's not very big at the beginning. by the end of it...it was... i mean, i actually really enjoyed it because it was like, ok, this has gone so far beyond stupid, it's like intergalactically dumb, and the best thing about it is it's gotjokes in it, so there are bits that are meant to be funny and then bits that are just. . .stupidly funny. also, it's the kind of film where, which, in the middle of a shoot—out, a character turns to another character and goes, "they're shooting at us." and you go, "i know!"

yes, that's right — tin hat conspiracy theorists in space. this is, and i say this... this is the stupidest film i have ever seen, and i have seen a lot of films. that is going on the poster! ok, gravity, a little bit of gravity, a little bit of melancholia, a little bit of event horizon. the clear inspiration behind this is sharknado ii. if someone gave the people behind that movie $20 million this said go knock yourself out. it doesn't justify the laws of gravity, it defies the laws of drama and everything else. this script says, "alexa, write me a terrible movie "script, and all that needs to happen is a test of moonfall "and the moon falls in it." i could feel my iq reducing.

is that the film industry is so much about objectifying women, it is very interesting to see a film in which the male body is completely on display and utterly ridiculed and seen without any form of squeamishness, and there is something oddly subversive about that. also, there is a scene where we do have someone taking part in it getting stung on the lips by a scorpion as a scorpion botox thing, which you could see as a comment as the ludicrousness of a society which embraces the idea of botox. there is a thing that says no animals were harmed, the same cannot be said about the cast. and i thought it was kind of oddly sweet, which is not something i expected to say about jackass. i did not expect you to see the word *sweet* at all. it kind of is, though. moonfall. i do like halle berry. roland emerick gave us so many forms. they are astronauts and space that are attacked by giant space

notting hill, which... i think there's a lot of things wrong with notting hill — i don't care, it's a lovely, funny film! this is absolute rubbish. and i've been quite surprised — the reviews have been, "well, it's not citizen kane, but it's all right!" no, it's not! it's terrible! it says something about the level to which we've descended that this is all right. this isn't all right! people have been starved for cinema... between this and moonfall... moonfall, every time! i refer you to last week's episode. yes. 50, best out? well, ok, the souvenir part ii... joanna hogg film. you've seen it? yes, seen both. 0k. did you...? i really enjoyed this. there's a section towards the end which i didn't fully understand. and i genuinely think i need to rewatch that section, about her graduation... oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. ..but broadly, i really, really enjoyed it, and i really enjoyed it much more even than the first part. great. so, the first part is still available on bbc iplayer, and so if you're going to go and see the souvenir part ii,
