The India-Bangladesh co-production narrates the life story of the first president of Bangladesh Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who was affectionately known as Bangabandhu-The Friend of Bengal. He was assassinated in 1975 with most of his family members.
The production company Jaaz Multimedia, which is in charge of distributing “Mujib: The Making of a Nation”, announced on their official Facebook page that the number of theatres screening the film has increased to 161 from 153 halls, within two days of its release.

The music for "Ochin Majhi" is composed by Shantanu Moitra, with lyrics penned by Zahid Akbar and vocals provided by Rathijit Bhattacharjee. The lyrics originated from Dhaka and the final song was produced in Mumbai studios.
As Bangladesh gears up for polls in early 2024, a video clip showing a large crowd filling a street has been shared in posts that falsely claim it shows a political rally organised by the country's ruling party on August 31. The video in fact circulated a month earlier and shows a religious procession in Iraq. The clip's original audio was also altered to insert the sound of people chanting Bangladeshi political slogans.
