As we all know, water is a scarce resource. It is even predicted that by 2025, half of the world’s population will be living in water-stressed areas, a situation that has a very high potential of erupting extreme poverty across the world.
The Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) (2017/18) indicates that access to basic drinking water in the Northern Region stands at 50%, nonetheless, there is increasing demand by households, agriculture and industry, and the impacts of climate change have also contributed to putting water under extreme threat. ....

Murad says Sindh's share in national resources reduced due to 'faulty' census - Newspaper


KARACHI: Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday said that the faulty census of 2017 had shown 47.8 million population of the province but a Unicef survey suggested that the population of Sindh stood at 61.04m.
“If the population of the province is counted at 61.04 million, the share of the province in the national resources will go up from about 24 per cent to 29pc,” he added.
Speaking at a press conference here at CM House, Mr Shah said that the 2017 census was conducted after 19 years of the 1998 census, but it became controversial as soon as its provisional results were declared during the tenure of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government. ....

KARACHI: The Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that the controversial census of 2017 has shown 47.8 million population of the province of Sindh whereas its population, as per UNICEF survey, stands at 61.04 million
“If the population is counted 61.04 million (in the census), the share of the province in the national resources would rise from about 24 percent to 29 percent, ” said CM Murad Ali Shah while addressing a press conference here at CM House on Wednesday. He was accompanied by provincial ministers Nasir Shah, Taimur Talpur and Murtaza Wahab.
The CM Shah said that the census of 2017 became controversial. The provisional results attracted widespread criticism. “Almost all the chief ministers, including that of Punjab criticized its results,” he said. The CM disclosed that in the Census 2017 declared Sindh having a total of 8,478,047 households with 5 ....
