Natchez Preservation Commission approves plans for bluff amphitheater

NATCHEZ, Miss. The Natchez Preservation Commission has approved conceptual plans for an outdoor amphitheater by the old train depot on the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River.
 
The commission also voted Wednesday to permit the placement of a historical marker on Silver Street by the river commemorating Revolutionary War hero Lafayette’s visit to Natchez in 1825.
 
Changes made to structures and landscapes in Natchez’ historic district must be reviewed by the commission to ensure they’re appropriate.
 
The proposed amphitheater is part of the restaurant and entertainment venue that movie producers Tate Taylor and John Norris are planning at the former train station on Broadway Street. They’re close to finalizing the lease for the city-owned property with hopes to have the restaurant open this summer. ....

Natchez Preservation Commission OKs alterations for soon-to-reopen restaurants

NATCHEZ, Miss. –The Natchez Preservation Commission has approved alterations being done to three structures in the north Broadway Street area that moviemakers Tate Taylor and John Norris are developing as an entertainment district.
 
The commission on Wednesday also approved an addition to the restaurant at Dunleith, the antebellum mansion and estate that’s to reopen soon for overnight lodging, dining and events.
 
Structural changes in Natchez’ historic district are required to be reviewed and approved by the Preservation Commission to ensure they’re in accords with the city’s architectural standards.
 
The commission consented to the construction of a temporary deck at The Little Easy the former Steampunk coffee bistro on High Street that Norris and Taylor plan to reopen in February as a revamped eatery. ....
