Computer security software company McAfee discovered 14 infected apps on Google Play, with three having 100,000 installs each, reports Bleeping Computer. The majority of infections were installed on devices in the United States, Germany, Spain, the UK, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina, according to McAfee telemetry data. �� Android Malware Detected: Researchers Idenfity Android Backdoor Called ‘Xamalicious’ That Infected Approximately 338,300 Android Devices.

The Xamalicious issue has been lingering since mid-2020, posing a persistent threat to those who have not scanned their devices for the malware.

The danger lies not only in its ability to breach device security but also in its sinister mission to pilfer sensitive financial data, including crucial bank account passwords.

Dubbed 'Chameleon Trojan', the malware uses the 'Accessibility service' on Android devices to disable fingerprint and face unlock and even tracks the user's app usage habits so it can run when the device is not in use.

A new Android malware known as 'FluHorse' has been discovered, which targets users in Eastern Asia with malicious apps that look like legitimate versions with over 1,00,000 installs.
