A North Carolina woman is now facing fraud charges for going on a shopping spree after getting a $150,000 COVID-19 relief loan.
According to prosecutors, Jasmine Clifton obtained the loan for her online clothing retail business, but spent the money on shopping trips to stores like Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Louis Vuitton. She now is facing up to 30 years in prison along with fines that are up to $1,000,000. Now, the Office Of Small Business Administration believes billions of dollars in loans were given to fraudulent businesses last year under the CARES Act.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A North Carolina woman was indicted for fraudulently obtaining a COVID-19 small business loan amounting to nearly $150,000, and is accused of using it to shop at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Louis Vuitton and other retailers, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Jasmine Johnnae Clifton, 24, allegedly engaged in a scheme to defraud the SBA by obtaining an Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) based on false information, a news release stated. ....
