تفصیلات کے مطابق ٹوکیو اولمپکس کے افتتاح کی تاریخ قریب آنے کے ساتھ کورونا وائرس کیسزکی تعداد میں بھی اضافہ ہوتا جارہا ہے،گذشتہ روز ویلج میں موجودایک گیمز آفیشل کا نتیجہ مثبت آیاتھا جبکہ اتوار کو انتظامی کمیٹی کی جانب سے 3 ایتھلیٹس کے کورونا وائرس کا شکار ہونے کی تصدیق کی گئی ہے، جن میں سے 2 ویلج میں مقیم تھے جبکہ ایک ایتھلیٹ اولمپکس کیلیے مختص ہوٹل میں مقیم تھا، سب نے آئسولیشن اختیارکرلی ہے۔ مجموعی طور پر اتوارکے روزگیمزسے متعلق10 افرادکے مثبت کیسز ریکارڈکیے گئے۔
جن میں 5 کا تعلق اولمپک باڈی سے ہے جبکہ ایک کنٹریکٹر اورایک صحافی شامل ہیں۔ ان تمام افرادکا نتیجہ مثبت آنے پران سے قریبی تعلق والے تمام افراد کو بھی آئسولیشن پرمجبورہوناپڑا ہے، آئی اوسی کے گیمز چیف ایگزیکٹیو  کرسٹوف ڈوبی کاکہنا ہے کہ ہم یہ بات پورے وثوق کے ساتھ کہہ سکتے ہیں کہ جاپان روانہ ہونے سے قبل گیمزکے 18 ہزار شرکاکی 40 ہزار کوویڈٹیسٹنگ ہوچکی ہے،ٹوکیوآمدکے بعد بھی ان کا ٹیسٹ لیا جاتا ہے، اس کے علاوہ بھی ہر روز ایتھلیٹس کا ٹیسٹ کیا جارہا ہے۔

With less than eight months to the start of postponed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, Kenyan athletes are now shaking off holiday rust occasioned by Covid-19 disruptions.
National Olympic Committee-Kenya (NOC) and Athletics Kenya have decided to check on training, level of preparedness and even motivate athletes in the run-up to the competition.
On Monday, they visited Global Sports Communications camp in Kaptagat –where Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge and three-time world half marathon winner Geoffrey Kamworor –train.

The Annual General Assembly of PanAm Sports, the Olympic Body responsible for the Pan American continent, was held virtually via Zoom on Tuesday, December 15 and Wednesday December 16.
Elections were held for a new Board of Directors to manage the organization for the period 2020 to 2024.
Mr. Neven Ilic of Chile was re-elected President. Barbados falls within Group 2 of the organization and the following were elected to the Board from this Group:
Keith Joseph – St. Vincent and the Grenadines –
Vice President
Veda Victor-Bruno – Grenada – Board Member
Alphonso Bridgewater – St. Kitts and Nevis – Board Member
Mr. Simmons, the Secretary General of The Barbados Olympic Association Inc. was elected to serve on the Board for the first time. He is one of Barbados’ leading sports administrators. He became involved in soccer as a teenager, playing for various teams and was eventually elected to the Executive Board of the Barbados Football Association as Assistant Secretary in 1984. In 1986, he was elected an Executive Director of The Barbados Olympic Association Inc.

Veteran Barbados Olympic Association administrator, Erskine Simmons, has described as a “dream”, his elevation to the board of the Pan American Sports Organization.
The long serving Secretary General of the Barbados Olympic Association, Simmons becomes the second Barbadian to sit on the Board of Directors following his uncle, Michael Simmons, who was the first black man elected to PanAm Sports in 1975.
With the appointment as a board member, Simmons ended Barbados’ nearly three-decade for a return to the body and said it was a “wonderful feeling”.
“This is kind of a dream of mine,” Simmons told Barbados TODAY.
