Only Fools and Horses was a British sitcom which featured wheeler-dealer Del Boy (played by David Jason) and his pal Rodney Trotter (Nicholas Lyndhurst).
Simon continued: “It amazed us when the bank agreed to lend us the money, because neither of us had any sizable capital.
“I was working as a self-employed designer and doing a little bit of part-time lecturing work.
“And [his business partner] was working as a restaurant hotel manager and between us, we had about £2,000."
Fortunately, it worked out for Simon when the bank agreed to loan him the money, much to his surprise.
