'Tis the season to see theatre! If you're planning to celebrate the holidays in New York, there are plenty of Broadway shows waiting for you when you get here. Many shows add extra performances in the weeks leading up to Christmas and New Year's, and plenty even have performances right on the holidays. Catch a Christmas Eve matinee before heading to family dinner, go to an evening performance on Christmas Day after you've unwrapped all your gifts, or spend the very first day of the new year in a Broadway theatre.

Why shop when you can see a show?

What better excuse to take a trip (to the theatre, that is)? The new musical Flying Over Sunset will offer a digital lottery for $40 tickets and a student rush program for $32 tickets, beginning with the show's first performance on November 11. Flying Over Sunset, presented by Lincoln Center Theater, opens December 13 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater.

While Broadway theatres may be gearing up for reopening shows at full capacity in the coming weeks, going to the theatre won’t be back to normal just yet. In order for the safety of all parties in the theatre, protocols have been put in place to hopefully slow the spread of Covid-19 on Broadway and across New York.
