Former Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara to be cremated today

Former Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara passed away away last night (14) while being treated for Covid-19 at IDH.
Wijesinghe Jayaweera Mudiyanselage Lokubandara, commonly known as W. J. M. Lokubandara, was the Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka from 2004 to 2010 and Governor of Sabaragamuwa Province from 2010 to 2015. He was a lawyer by profession, and was also an author of several books and a songwriter. Lokubandara held several ministries in the government of Sri Lanka before his appointment as the Speaker of the House.
On April 22, 2004, W.J.M. Lokubandara was elected after a 9-hour controversial secret ballot. ....

Jeopardy! Champ Dead at 24: Brayden Smith Passed Away Unexpectedly
Former Jeopardy! winner Brayden Smith, known as Alex Trebek s Last Great Champion, has passed away at the age of 24.
The Las Vegas native, who graduated from the University of Nevada with a degree in economics, died last February 5. His mom, Debbie, confirmed the news a week later via a post on Twitter.
We are heartbroken to share that our dear Brayden Smith recently passed away unexpectedly, Debbie wrote. We are so grateful that Brayden was able to live out his dream on @jeopardy.
No specific cause of death was disclosed. However, TMZ reported that he died after a medical emergency, noting he passed away due to natural causes. ....

Three years have passed without local government elections
The local government elections that are a constitutional obligation under Article 140 A have not been held as yet even though the sitting government has entered its third year. It is binding on the provincial governments to hold these elections with the support of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) but so far these have not been held anywhere in the province.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has been a strong proponent of the local government system and often boasts of running it exceedingly well in KP when his party was heading the province from 2013 to 2018. It was during this time that the local governments in the province got 30 percent of the development budget of the province and allowed to use it independently. Reportedly, members of the opposition parties too had access to these funds. ....
