Says we ve seen this before. we know what this is, don t let it stop you from voting. that s part of the democracy message. everybody s has a voice, everybody has a vote. but also be remember that it may take a little time. we re not going to necessarily have all the answers on election night, and that s okay. and part of this concern thinking about it is the way we count and tabulate, i mean there s not this it s always thought of you go to bed at night and someone s winning, you wake up in the morning and it s different. those wee small hours in the morning oftentimes can be the most politically vulnerable period for people to have trust in the system because it s a time people to pick up in the morning and say this is what it is, i go to bed, and now the person s winning. that s not true, but that s the conversations people are having. i think that s right. i think there s so many pressure points in our political system, which is frankly a pretty strange patchwork for a mode ....

Points in our political system, which is a strange patchwork for a modern country to have. and different states have different rules for how you vote, when you vote, which municipality is likelier to report. it is confusing to people. and everybody who works in politics knows this, the difference is that some people work in politics, they know that confusion is there and play upon it. so distrust in the system, and other people try to explain to people why this might seem strange but actually it is a process that you need to let work. i will say that part of where the president is coming from here, where the white house administration leader is generally coming from here is i think that they recognize it is a very strong likelihood that republicans are going to take one or more votes in the chambers of congress next week, and looking ahead to a divided washington with a pretty far-right faction in the republican party gaining power, they want to set the table for the american people to ....

MSNBC Andrea Mitchell Reports June 4, 2024 16:31:00

Word abortion in his rhetoric. now they are leaning into it aggressively. goes to show you they think it s a winning issue. the promise he will introduce legislation on day one if they retain the majority is obviously an attempt to reinsert this into the election narrative with three weeks to go. the polls are showing that while it s a lower priority, this legal battle is still fierce, state by state, over abortion. 14 states banning or restricting abortion. medical professionals on the front line trying to navigate a patchwork of laws and all kinds of liability concerns. how do we rationalize this? andrea, when you overturn 50 years of precedent, as the supreme court did when it overturned roe v. wade, legal chaos is the predictable result. that s why we adhere to precedent so people can rely on it in their behavior. there s a fundamental tenant of ....
