Yet we did not win the war. South Vietnam was lost. And contrary to the message awaiting President George W. Bush when he landed on the carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, which was flaunting the banner “Mission Accomplished,” America did not accomplish its mission. President Joe Biden said as much Thursday, when he responded to a reporter’s question, “The mission has not failed — yet.” As the 20th anniversary of 9/11 impends, and with it our final exit from the Afghan war, the Taliban are overrunning districts at will, and Afghan troops are avoiding battle in what many...

a- As our July Fourth celebrations were beginning, the U.S. quietly closed and abandoned Bagram Air Base, the largest American military base between the Persian Gulf and the South China Sea.  Afghan looters were soon seen scavenging inside the base.  The long retreat of the American Empire is underway, and this longest war is likely to end in bloody retribution for the Afghans who sided with us against the Taliban and are left behind. "missing link." Fame and fortune awaited the scientist who found the link proving Darwin right: that man evolved from a monkey. In 1912, success! Said The Adams built "an old-school political coalition that united Black and Latino voters," and was "able to persuade working-class people, largely outside Manhattan, that he was the best candidate to make the city safe from crime." Adams' anti-crime and pro-cop campaign carried four of New York City's ...

a- Speaking in Tulsa on the 100th anniversary of the racial atrocity there, Joe Biden belatedly turned to the issue of voting rights, to explain why he is having such difficulty winning passage of the party's priority legislation. "I hear all the folks on TV saying, 'Why doesn't Biden get this done?'"  "Well, because Biden only has a majority of, effectively, four votes in the House and a tie in the Senate, with two members of the Senate who vote more with my Republican friends." "But we're not giving up," Biden hastily added. "Earlier this year, the House of Representatives passed For the P...
