V Nikaragui jsme strávili tři měsíce. Surfovali jsme na pacifickém pobřeží, toulali se pestrobarevnou Granadou, v Leónu jsme zažili velkolepé oslavy Velikonoc a v Matagalpě bydleli přímo na kávové plantáži. Nejvíc jsme si však zamilovali magický ostrov Ometepe.
Naše cesta do Nikaraguy se začala rýsovat během cestování po sousední Kostarice. Tam jsme se bezhlavě zamilovali do divoké džungle, pestrobarevných papoušků, lenochodů a omamně kvetoucích stromů. Často jsme si ale připadali jako někde na výstavě, do národních parků se stály fronty a půjčit si kolo stálo víc než v San Francisku. Ostatní cestovatelé často básnili o autentičnosti sousední země. Nikaragua je prý jako Kostarika před dvaceti lety. A měli pravdu. Čas jako by se tam zastavil. Farmáři vozí na trh
