Residents of Hartlepool were quick to give their views after hearing of Jill Mortimer's historic by-election win on Friday. The Conservative candidate stormed to victory with a majority of 6,940 votes, ending Labour's 57-year hold on the County Durham town. A KINDLING wood supplier has come up with a special bench which means work team members with learning disabilities can work from home amid the pandemic restrictions. The Chopsticks factory based at Thurston Road in Northallerton employs eight staff and has more than 20 work team members. When the Covid-19 pandemic struck, the business had to close and suspend its supported work and day care services because of the team's vulnerability.
